 Frequently Asked Question's

  • WHAT IS BACKFLOW AND HOW DOES IT OCCUR?
Backflow is the undesirable reversal of flow of water or mixtures of water and other substances back into the public drinking water system. This is usually caused by backpressure, which occurs when downstream pressure rises above the supply pressure. (Manual of Cross-Connection Control. Foundation for Cross-Connection Control and Hydraulic Research, University of Southern California, 2017.)
  • WHAT IS CROSS-CONNECTION?
A cross-connection is a temporary or permanent connection between the public potable drinking water system and a consumer's water system that could potentially introduce contamination or pollution into the public or private drinking water system. (Manual of Cross-Connection Control. Foundation for Cross-Connection Control and Hydraulic Research, University of Southern California, 2017.)
  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT HAVE MY BACKFLOW ASSEMBLY TESTED AND MAINTAINED AS REQUIRED?
To comply with California Administrative Code Title 17, your Water District requires that all backflow assemblies are tested as soon as they are installed or relocated, and annually. If the backflow assembly is not tested, maintained, or removed from its approved location, the district maY discontinue water service to the premises.

 What People Say. . .

"This is the first time I've had to have a backflow inspection done. After calling several other companies I decided to use Checkrite. Their price was half of the other places that I called and the receptionist was very informed and spent time with me to answer all of my questions which is ultimately why I chose to use them. They were very easy to work with and although my inspection passed I'm confident that they would be just as great if something were needing replacement." -Alison T. 04/15/16

"We have used Checkrite Backflow Services for many years with zero complaints. Great people and great service even when it is a rush job." -Dave W. 03/2020

"I have used Checkrite for years, and wish everybody did their jobs as well. Super easy to deal with. Very reasonable pricing. Dependable, year after year." -Jim L. 04/26/18

"I can't say enough great things about Checkrite Backflow Services! I manage close to 20 properties in Sonoma County and Checkrite is always my first call when any backflow issues pop up or an annual testing is due. I always appreciate their prompt service, good prices, and honest opinions. Love being able to work with a such a wonderful local business." -Jennifer D. 09/06/18
